The following eulogy for Paul Graham was written and delivered by his son, Daniel Gregory Graham of Longview, Texas:

Paul Graham was an extra ordinary man to those of us who loved him. He was the hub of our family, representing the home base for us all. He was the only 81 year old kid in Nettleton with loud glass packed mufflers on his pick-up truck. He had a gift for being able to relate to all ages. He was basically a happy, optimist man who lived his life full speed. In his healthy years his attitude was tremendous and in the circumstances of his last years he was even more remarkable. The foundation for this, I’m sure, was his relationship to his God and the fact that for 61 years he was married to an angel, (our mother). He was straight forward and frank, quick to serve others, and a friend to all who wanted a friend and to some who didn’t. He was a man who could always be counted on in a pinch, forever willing to go the second and third mile. He had convictions from which he never wavered. To us, he was an imperfect, great man. He truly was on of the last of a rare breed of men.

He loved us and provided for us all that we needed and more. He was always an encourager and a supporter. He loved our mother and demanded that we honor and respect her, setting am example of fatherhood that would be difficult to equal. In my visit the other day with a longtime friend, he remarked that ‘Mr Paul was a go-getter’. That really described him perfectly.

Over the past several weeks he has never complained, although suffering much. He has passed from this life as a Genuine Profile in Courage. We celebrate today his new life. He was a fighter every step of the way, and he was never a sad song singer! So we honor him the way he lived, in hope and joy!

We, whose lives would have been so very incomplete without his influence, feel that it would be unkind and unfair if we did not say aloud for all to hear just hoe much we loved him. He has marked us all indelibly. We, his family, would like to thank those of you who have been so prayerfully kind and helpful during these last days.
