Eddie Willie Gregory 6 (21 October 1901-26 September 1959), the fifth child of Edward and Annie Gregory, was born in Greenwood, S.C. He served in World War II in the U.S. Army, having joined in January 1941. He was stationed for basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C. until August 1942. He married Minnie Burns, daughter of T. Walker and Mary M. Styles Burns, on December 25, 1941. He was stationed in Iceland for more than a year, then served in England and Northern Ireland. In August 1944, he was flown to Moore General Hospital in North Carolina where he received an Honorable Discharge on September 15, 1944, having suffered a heart attack on the eve of the invasion of Normandy. At the time of his death, he lived on Fairfield Road in Greenville. He is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Greenville, S.C. He and Minnie had one son: Eddie Floyd Gregory. Minnie died in December 1996.
Eddie Floyd Gregory 7 (12 August 1945) was born, in Greenville, S.C. He was married August 19, 1968 to Karen –. and is now divorced. He has two sons: Eddie Andrew Gregory and Scott Allen Gregory.

Violet Gregory 6 (11 November 1904-15 May 1990), the sixth child of Edward Merriman Gregory and Annie, was born in Spartanburg, S.C. She lived in Greenville until her marriage to Ferdinand August Hemple of Avoca, Minnesota on September 16, 1953 at Buncombe Street Methodist Church in Greenville, S.C. They lived in Florida in the Winter Haven area from the time of their marriage until Ferd’s death. Violet continued to live there and in Greenville for a time before she returned to Florida where she died May 15, 1990 in Auburndale, Florida. She is buried in Springwood Cemetery in the family plot. She had no children.
Johnnie Mack Gregory 6 (2 February 1907-5 July 1992), was born in Greenwood S.C. He lived in Greenville and married Charlotte Eaton. They resided in Greenville. Charlotte is buried at Graceland Cemetery in Greenville, S.C. and Johnnie is buried in the family plot in Springwood Cemetery. They were the parents of three children: Annie Louise, Johnnie Mack Jr. and Phillip.
Annie Louise Gregory 7 (8 January 1946) was born in Greenville, S.C., married Gerald Abbott. They reside in Greer, S.C. They own a cleaning service in the Greenville Area. They have five children: Michael, Greg, Diane, Rebecca, and Denise. All are married and have children.
Johnnie Mack Gregory, Jr. 7 (1 January 1947) was born in Greenville, S.C. He was married to Dale Kay of Anderson County, S.C., daughter of Marvin, Jr. and Mary Guthrie Kay, on January 1, 1981. Mack was previously married to Ann Gregory Lowell. He lives in Greenville, S.C. and is owner of Mack Pest Control Company. His two children are Nancy Caroline and Amanda Michelle. Mack has a grandson, Tyler, who resides with him and his wife, Dale, in Greenville, S.C.

James Columbus Gregory 6 (7 May 1909-7 February 1993), the eighth child of Edward Merriman Gregory and Annie, was born in Greenwood, S.C. He graduated in 1933 from Parker High School, where he was the quarterback and Captain of the football team. He belonged to a National Sports Fraternity where his broad jump record in track held for many years. He started his career in the laundry and dry cleaning business after being in charge of concessions at Dunean Mill. He operated a laundry and cleaners at Greenville Army Air Base during World War II. Later, he moved his business to 518 Rhett Street in Greenville and it became the Carolina Bon Ton. This business was sold in 1953 when he went into another business, Gregory Center, an industrial park, trailer park and housing rental on White Horse Road. He married Annie Ruth Smith, the daughter of William Thomas and Illa Tennesse Fleming Smith on January 5, 1935. Annie Ruth Smith was born on 15 July 1916, in Woodruff, SC. He and Ruth resided in Greenville, S.C. on White Horse Road until his death, where she continued to live until her death. Ruth Smith Gregory died on 29 October 2000. James is buried in Springwood Cemetery in the family plot. He and Ruth have two children: Alva Louise and James Columbus Jr.
Alva Louise Gregory 7 (27 June 1936) Alva graduated from Greenville High School and Furinan University. On April 8, 1961, she married John Waddington, Jr.(20 October 1935), born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, son of John and Edith Anness Waddington of Yonkers, N.Y. The wedding was held in Greenville, S.C. Alva worked for the South Carolina Department of Vocational Rehabilitation in Greenville, S.C. until the birth of their first child. In later years, she was executive secretary for J.C. Penney Financial Services in Plano, Texas until 1987 when they moved back to Greenville, S.C. where they presently reside. Jack graduated from Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, N.Y. and from N.C. State University. He has worked for J.P. Stevens his entire career and was Marketing Director of JPS Glass Fabrics in Slater, S.C. Jack is now retired. They have two children: Susan Lynn and John Scott.
Susan Lynn Waddington 8 (22 April 1963) was born in Greenville, S.C. Susan graduated from Plano Senior High School, Plano, TX and from Texas Tech in Lubbock, TX, and holds a Masters Degree from the University of Dallas. She manied Gary Wade Beckmann, son of Donald and Laverne Beckmann of Plano, TX on May 24, 1986 in Plano, Texas. Susan works in the Corporate Office for Raytheon and Gary works for MCI World Communications. They reside in Sachse, TX. They have a son, John Kyle Beckman, born 17 April 2000, in Dallas, TX.
John Scott Waddington 8 (2 May 1966) was born in Greenville, S.C. Scott graduated from Plano Senior High School in Plano, TX and from Western State College in Gunnison, CO. He presently lives in Greenville, S.C., where he works in the family business. He married Nida Olipani in April 1998 in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Nida had two children from a previous marriage: Darkly Olipani Robins and Gail Olipani Robins. They are the proud parents of a daughter, Shyanna Kaleikaumaka Waddington, born 23 January 2000, in Kona, Hawaii.
James Columbus Gregory, Jr. 7 , (9 September 1938-15 November 1995) was the second child of James and Annie, He was born September 9, 1938 in Greenville, S.C. Jim graduated from Greenville High School and attended North Greenville Junior College. He served in the U.S. Army 318th Field Artillery with active duty in 1957-1958. On January 6, 1963, he married Loraine Murdock, daughter of William Henry, Jr. and Madie Melvina Johnson Murdock, in Rock Hill, S.C. Loraine is a graduate of the Greenville General Hospital of Nursing. Jim and Loraine lived in Rock Hill, S.C. for many years. Jim has been in the sign business and real estate in Rock Hill and managed Gregory Center in Greenville, S.C. until his death in Rock Hill, S.C. on November 15, 1995. Loraine works as a nurse for a State Agency. They have two children: Jamie DeAnne and James Columbus III.
Jamie DeAnne Gregory 8 (25 February 1964) was born in Rock Hill, S.C. She is a graduate of Northwestern High School in Rock Hill and Clemson University in Clemson, S.C., where she holds undergraduate and Masters degrees. On October 20, 1990, she married Donald Charles Eagerton of Summerton, S.C.. Donald completed a fellowship at Bowman Grey Medical School in Internal Medecine and completed a fellowship at Medical University of South Carolina in Endocrinology. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. They live in Myrtle Beach, Sc where Donald is an Endocrinologist. They have three children: Thomas James; Matthew David; Rebecca Susanne.
James Columbus Gregory, III 8 (20 September 1974), was born in Rock Hill, S.C. Jay graduated from Northwestern High School in Rock Hill in 1993 and from Johnson and Wales University in Charleston, S.C. in August 1995.
Paul Gregory 8 (14 February 1911-13 August 1965), the ninth child of Edward Merriman and Annie, was born in Spartanburg, S.C. His first wife was Ruby Cunningham. He later married Grace Pitts, sister of Novie Lee Pitts, Eugene Frank Gregory’s wife. He lived in Slater, S.C. for many years until his death. He is buried at Graceland Cemetery in Greenville, S.C. Grace died in Marietta, S.C. on January 30, 1976. Paul and Ruby had two children: Marvin Eugene and Carl. Paul and Grace had five children: Bobbie Jean, Annie Louise, Geneive, Grace Marie, Paul Edward (Billy).
Marvin Eugene Gregory 7 (18 April 1931), was born in Greenville, S.C. He served in the armed forces from which he retired and married Ann -?- Gregory, born June 25, 1935 of Germany. They presently live in Greenville County and Myrtle Beach, S.C. They have one daughter, Tammy.
Tammy Gregory 8 (21 April 1959) was born in Alabama. She was married to Chester Harold Miller of Greenville, S.C. on March 1, 1986. Tammy and Chester have one daughter, Alyussa LeAnn, born January 17, 1988.
Carl Gregory 7 (26 October 1932) was born in Greenville, S.C. This son died June 1, 1933 and is buried at Graceland Cemetery in Greenville, S.C.
Bobbie Jean Gregory 7 (21 January 1939), was born in Florida. She married James Dennis Garrett on December 23, 1954 in Travelers Rest, S.C. Dennis is the son of Arthur Graham and Mary Beatrice Capps Garrett of Marietta, S.C. They resided in Slater, S.C. Bobbie Jean is a beautician and has had her own business for many years. James Dennis died in December 1997. They had four children: Steven Dennis, Deborah Jean, Mickie Lynn, Allen Todd.
Steven Dennis Garrett 8 (18 January 1956) was born in Greenville, S.C. He was married to Elizabeth A. -?- on March 20,1982 in Greenville, S.C. They are the parents of three children, Jason, born October 26, 1982; Meghan, born January 4, 1984; and Justin, born April 15, 1987.

Annie Louise Gregory 7 (19 March 1941) was born in Greenville, S.C. She was married to Emmanuel Whitted, who died a short time later. Annie was then married to Wayne D. Masters, born on October 7, 1945, son of Columbus and Frances Masters of Greenville, S.C. on June 12, 1969 in Greenville, S.C. Annie and Emmanuel had one daughter: Gwen Ann. Wallace Gregory 6 (15 February 1913-18 November 1985), the tenth child of Edward and Annie, was born in Spartanburg, S.C. on . He graduated from Parker High School in Greenville, S.C. and the Chiropractic College of Los Angeles. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years during World War II. On December 21, 1940 in Long Beach, CA, he married Marion Lindquist (8 May 1920) of Webster, South Dakota, daughter of Edward and Hima Lindquist. He was the owner of A-1 Aluminum Awning Manufacturing, Inc. in Long Beach, CA. He made his home with Marion in Westminster, CA until his death. She continues to live there. He is buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Cypress, California. They had two children: Nancy Lea and Sandra Ann.

Annie Louise Gregory6 (27 August 1918), the eleventh child of Edward and Annie, was born in Greenville, S.C. She was a graduate of Parker High School and lived in Greenville. On August 22, 1953 she married Doyle O’Neal Mathews of Mariana, Florida. The wedding took place in Hartwell, Georgia, and their home was made in Haines City, Florida. Many summers were spent in Hendersonville, N.C. She presently resides in Haines City, Florida, having lived there for forty years. She had no children.
Kennett Gregory 6 (April 7, 1920), the twelfth child of Edward and Annie, was born in Greenville, S.C. She was a graduate of Parker High School. She was married to Myron Walter (Jake) Floyd (20 April 1922) of Gainesville, Georgia on December 9, 1942. He is the son of Ferdinand McCurry and Cora Carolyn Cooper Floyd. The wedding was in Greenville, S.C. Jake had a career in textiles. He worked and retired from Burlington Industries. He was a plant manager in Asheville, N.C. and the Poe Mill in Greenville, S.C. From 1974 until 1988 when he retired, he was Vice-President of Manufacturing for Little Manufacturing in Wadesboro, N.C. Jake served in World War II in the European Theater, Mechanized Cavalry. He served in England, in the Bavarian Alps with the Seventh Army, Company C under General George Patton. They have lived in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. They presently reside in Wadesboro, North Carolina. They have one daughter, Shirley Gale.
Shirley Gale Floyd 7 (23 July 1947) was born in Greenville, S.C. She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and has served as a stewardess for American Airlines since 1970. She was married to Donald McGraw in Malibu, CA on June 20, 1980. He is the son of Oscar William and Margaret Shebert McGraw and was born in Dallas, TX. They presently reside in Raleigh, N.C. and have one daughter: Ashley Louise, born September 9, 1982 in Santa Monica, CA. NOTE: Addition to Julia E. Gregory and her descendants was provided by Colton Keasler.
Julia Elizabeth Gregory 5 (6 May 1870-24 September 1951), the seventh child of Isaac Simpson and Mary Ann, married James Young Keasler (18 May 1869- 11 December 1927). She was easily identifiable from Edward’s obituary. The remaining sisters noted in the obituary were Mrs. W.T. Knight and Mrs. W.T. Genobles. Julia and James had six children: Myrtle D.; Fred Willie; Mamie; James Wilbur; Nellie Ruth; Ralph . Julia and James are buried at Rosemont Cemetery in Union, SC.

Hazel Irene Keasler 7 (20 October 1921), the first child of Fred and Daisy Perry Keasler, married Berry Franklin Poole (20 September 1922). Berry died on 17 January 1975.

Hampton Bennah Gregory 5 (2 August 1871- ?), was the eighth child of Isaac Simpson and Mary Ann. He was three years old at the 1880 census. He was identified as “Benner” in brother Edward’s death notice.
Sally Violet Gregory 5 (2 March 1872- ?), was the nineth child of Isaac Simpson and Mary Ann. She married Thomas Genobles. She is mentioned in Edward’s obituary.
William Singleton Gregory 4 (1838), second son of Edward M. and Rhoda Comer Gregory, was the second husband of Eveline Lee (15 November 1831-6 October 1879), daughter of Michael Byrd and Mary Willard Lee. William and Eveline were married in November, 1857.
Elizabeth Hoyle Rucker 4 (in her Genealogy of William Lee I of England and of Virginia, and his Descendants) says Eveline married Sol Layne. Eveline’s family did not approve of Mr. Layne, so her oldest brother had the marriage annulled. Eveline’s cause of death, cited in the 1880 Mortality Census, was obstructed bowels.
William pursued a career as a newspaperman and printer in Union, South Carolina while rearing a family of six children. William did not appear on the 1870 and 1880 census of Union County, but he did show up in the Greenville, South Carolina City Directory in 1880. He is listed as a printer who was employed with the Baptist Courier. He disappears after the 1883-84 Directory.
In 1880, William and Eveline’s children are in the home of Berry W. Lee, Eveline’s oldest brother. They were: States Rights; William E.; Michael Lee; Robert Earl; Minnie E.; and Carrie V.

On 27 May 1883, he married Anna Rosalie West (2 August 1866, Union Co., SC- 20 December 1945, Union., SC), the daughter of William Carson and Amanda Elizabeth Hyatt West. They are buried at Bogansville Methodist Church, Union Co., SC. Their children were: Walter Elmore; Evelyn Elizabeth, 5 August 1888; Mamie Lois, 29 June 1890; David Clyde, 16 April 1892; Leila Melissa, 22 February 1884; William Marvin, 6 November 1900-9 August 1931; and Hoyle Wilson, 6 September 1912.
Walter Elmore Gregory 6 (13 August 1885-24 April 1958) was the first child of States Rights and Anna Gregory. On 6 January 1907, he married Kate Atlantic West (8 December 1884-31 January 1939), the daughter of John Wesley and Florence E. White West. They are buried at Bogansville Church, Union County, South Carolina as well as their infant son. Their union produced the following children, all born in Glenn Springs, Spartanburg Co., SC: Walter Dupre; an infant son, (5 May 1910-7 May 1910); Kate Eloise; Wesley Wright; Mary Lucille; and Edith Elsie.
Walter Dupre Gregory 7 (17 May 1908), the first child of Walter and Kate Gregory, is not married and resides in Spartanburg, SC with his sister, Edith.
Kate Eloise Gregory 7 (4 October 1911), the third child of Walter and Kate Gregory, married on 27 April 1940, in Organgeburg, SC, Asa Lloyd Johns. Asa Lloyd Johns (26 October 1917-6 May 1987), was the son of Julius Walker and Ida Howards Johns. He was born in Union, SC and died in Glenn Springs, SC and is buried in Boganville Methodist Church, Union Co., SC. Kate resides in Spartanburg, SC. Their union produced on child: Frieda Kathryn Johns.
Frieda Kathryn Johns 8 (18 July 1952-19 September 1987), the only child of Asa Lloyd and Kate Gregory Johns, married in January 1974, in Glenn Springs, SC, Peter R. Krenn. Wesley Wright Gregory 7 (16 August 1915-11 October 1994), the fourth child of Walter and Kate Gregory, married on 25 October 1941, in Greer, SC, Mildred Wilson. Wes Gregory retired from Dan River Mills in Greenville, SC, having previously worked with Riegel Textiles and LaFrance Industries. He was an accountant with Wometco and taught accounting and business management at Tri County Technical College, Anderson Co., SC at the time of his death in Anderson, SC. Marvin Charles (Charles) Brewington 8 (14 July 1940), the first child of Marvin and Helen Brewington, was born in Spartanburg, SC. Linda Gleneace Brewington 8 (3 May 1947), the third child of Marvin and Helen Brewington, married on 7 November 1980 in Laurens, SC, as Linda’s second husband, James Tilman Morse (28 August 1939), the son of Tilman and Ruby Hawkins Morse of Clinton, SC. Linda was previously married to James Larry Patterson. Linda is employed with the First Baptist Church, in Laurens, SC, and Jim works in Human Relations at the Torrington Co. also in Laurens, SC. They reside in Clinton, SC. Linda and James Larry Paterson had one child: William Chadwick Patterson.

Albert Franklin Miller, Jr. 7 (26 January 1921), the first child of Albert Franklin and Mamie Miller, was born in Pauline, Spartanburg Co., SC. He married on 17 July 1949, in Woodruff, SC, Margaret Elizabeth Touchberry (3 March 1924), the daughter of Tillman John and Lillian Anilla Barnett Touchberry of Woodruff, SC. Franklin Miller retired after 43 years from Carolina Cash as a saleman in Spartanburg, SC. Franklin attended Cecil’s Business College in S[atanburg, and served in WW II. Margaret was a graduate of Limestone College, in Gaffney, SC, with a BA in French and in Piano (1945). John Franklin Miller, MD 9 (1 July 1953), the only child of Franklin and Margaret Miller, was born in Spartanburg, SC. He married on 3 April 1982, in Greenville, SC, Valeri Faith Horton (22 January 1957), the daughter of Leo and Barbara June Callahan Horton. John graduated from Wofford College, Spartanburg, SC, with a BS in Biology in 1975. He received his MD in 1975 from MUSC, Charleston, SC. He is a prominent family physician in Seneca, SC and active in a local Baptist Church. Valeri received the RN degree in 1979 from GarnerWebb College, Boiling Springs, SC and is a nurse in Seneca, SC where they reside in 1999. Leila Melissa Gregory 6 (22 February 1884) was the fifth child of States Rights and Anna. She married Guy David Davis (1890) in 1913. Their children: Margaret, August 1914; Guynell, April 1916; Mabel, May 1918; Joseph, July 1920; Sarah Ruth; Thelma, September 1925; Bernard, November 1928; Kenneth, April 1931; and Marvin, June 1934.
Sarah Ruth Davis 7 (29 September 1922), the fifth child of Guy and Leila Davis, married Woodrow Wilson Davis of western NC. They reside in West Columbia, SC in 1999. Sarah and Wilson had four children: Woodrow Wilson Jr.; Stanley Wayne; Roger Earl; Melissa Ruth.
Roger Earl Davis 8 (30 September 1945), the third child of Woodrow and Sarah Ruth Davis married Linda Kay Shealy (5 February 1945). They reside in Columbia, SC. They had two children: Julie Elizabeth; Roger Scott.

William was originally buried at Bogansville Methodist Church, Union CO, SC, but was later reburied at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, in Spartanburg, SC. Sallie Gregory resided in Roebuck, SC until her death. She died at the age of 98 on 27 October 2000, in Spartanburg, SC. Sallie is also buried at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Spartanburg, SC. They had two children: Bobbie Jean; William Marvin Jr.

Wilson worked for Ecusta Paper Co. in Pisgah Forest, NC, now the P.H. Glatfelter Co. where he was a papermaker. They resided in Brevard, NC in 1999. Hoyle is buried in Bogansville UMC, in Union County, SC. They had two children: Sybil Elizabeth; and Larry Wilson.
Sybil Elizabeth Gregory 7 (15 August 1939-20 January 1998), the first child of Hoyle Wilson and Esther Gregory, married on 14 June 1958, in Brevard, NC, Stephen Morgan Hunter (28 June 1936), the son of James Lee and Selma Sara Morgan Hunter. Sybil attended Berea Collegem Berea, KY. Stephen Hunter studied Agriculture at Berea College and worked for Dow Chemical Co., an agricultural chemical company until his retirement. Stephen Mark Hunter 8 (14 May 1960), the first child of Stephen and Sybil Hunter, was born in Brevard, NC. He married on 9 June 1984, in Dublin, VA, Paige Wynne Holt (10 November 1963), the daughter of Rev. Henry Jett Jr. , a Methodist minister, and Doris Jean Cochran Holt of Abington, Washington Co., VA. William E. Gregory 5 (2 August 1861-11 December 1881) was the second child of William Singleton and Eveline Gregory. He did not marry and is buried at Bogansville.
Michael Lee Gregory 5 (26 August 1866-8 February 1941), was the third child of William Singleton and Eveline Gregory. He married twice. His first wife was Texie Anna Nix (?-17 July 1913). They were the parents of two children: Florechelle, 2 April 1891 – 1 November 1891; and an unnamed infant, 15 February 1893.
On 3 June 1914, he married Katherine Rebecca Williams (27 November 1880-20 January 1967). They had no children.
The Gregorys resided at 10 Hampton Avenue and were members of Buncombe Street Methodist Church. Michael was a prominent Greenville realtor at the time of his death.
Robert Earl Gregory 5 (1868), fourth child of William Singleton and Eveline, was living with his uncle, Berry W. Lee, in 1880 but disappeared after that time.
Minnie E. (Mary) Gregory 5 (January 1870) fifth child of William Singleton and Eveline, married (Thomas) William Alonzo Quinn. They were the parents of four sons and one daughter. Their children: William Boyce, 1883-December 1943; Frederick McBride, 1885; Ralph, ca. 1887; Frances Joyce, 1889-1916; and Miriam Lee, 1902-1908.
William Boyce Quinn 6 (1883-December 1943) was married about 1906, though the wife is unnamed. He died suddenly in Mexico. He and his wife had one son: William Gregory, 1910.
Frederick McBride Quinn 6 (1885) married Lillie Talley (1890). Their two daughters were Lee, 1912; and Margaret, 1914.
Ralph Quinn 6 (ca. 1887) married, but his wife’s name is unknown at this time. They are reported to have been childless.
Frances Joyce Quinn 6 (1889-1916) married Edwin Buck Miller (1884) about 1914. She died of tuberculosis after giving birth to a son, Edwin Buck Jr., in 1916.
Carrie V. Gregory 5 (June 1871), the youngest child of William Singleton and Eveline Lee Gregory, did not marry. She was living with her brother, States Rights, in 1900. She is said to have lost her health in her teenage years and eventually became mentally ill. She died at the South Carolina Mental Hospital in Columbia.
