Vera Mae Gregory, 91, of 632 Fairview Church Circle, died Sunday, Feb. 9,
2003, at 8:20 p. m. at the home of her beloved cousins, Attorney Robert
A. Bullock and Dora Livingston Bullock in Ballentine, S.C. Miss Gregory
was born in Union on Nov. 2, 1911, a daughter of the late John Thomas
Gregory and Martha Frances (Fannie) Ivey Gregory.
She was a life-long and very active member of the Beulah Baptist Church,
serving as beginner's Sunday School teacher, G.A. leader, Sunbeam leader
and director of the W.M.U. She was very active in community service and
was loved by all who knew her. She read her Bible through every year for
many years from Genesis to Revelations. She attended the Union County
Schools in Santuc and was retired from Milliken & Co., Monarch Plant.
Surviving are a sister, Florence Maude Gregory of the home; her cousins,
Dora Livingston Bullock and her husband Robert A. Bullock of Ballentine.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Beulah Baptist
Church conducted by the Rev. Austin Bennett. Burial will be in the church
cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will
receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. and will be placed in the
church at 2 p.m. Wednesday to await the hour of service.
Memorial may be made to the Beulah Baptist Church c/o Eva Smith, 838
Happy Valley Road, Union, S.C. 29379. The family is at the home, 632
Fairview Church Circle. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of
arrangements.
