Martha E. Gregory

Retired from City of Union
Martha Elizabeth Gregory, 77, of 404 S. Church St., Union, passed away
after a short illness Sunday, May 1, 2005, at 8:48 p.m. at the Gibbs Cancer Center
in Spartanburg.
Miss Gregory was born in Union on Oct. 12, 1927, a daughter of the late Jerry Simpson
Gregory and Margaret Workman Gregory of Union. She was an active member of the First
Baptist Church of Union where she was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class and
the Pearl Johnson Baptist Women. Miss Gregory was a graduate of Union High School
and was retired from the City of Union Utility Department as data processing supervisor.
Miss Gregory is survived by a sister, Eugenia Gregory Morgan of Union; and two nieces,
Sue Morgan of Union and Deidre Gregory of Appling, Ga. She was predeceased by a brother,
Carroll J. Gregory.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Union First Baptist
Church conducted by the Rev. Robert Emory. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers are Bobby Brown, Bill Wingo, Roger Page, Hubert Sanders, Felder
Meador and Jimmy Vinson.

Members of the Joy Sunday School Class and the Pearl Johnson Baptist Women are asked
to sit as a body at the funeral service.
The family will be at the home of her sister, Eugenia Morgan, 112 Mission Drive, Union,
and will receive friends at the First Baptist Church Chapel from 2 until 3 p.m. Tuesday
prior to the service.
