WEST COLUMBIA A memorial service for Margaret Gregory Harvey, 73,
formerly of Aiken will be held 3 p.m. Saturday at Mount Tabor Lutheran
Church in West Columbia conducted by the Rev. Paul Aebischer, the Rev.
Virginia (Ginny) Aebischer and the Rev. Jim Rivers, with Friendship
Sunday School Class serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will
receive friends in the church assembly hall immediately following the
service.
A private graveside service will be held at Putman Baptist Church
Cemetery in Union County. Mrs. Harvey, widow of Hilliard McKendrick
(Buddy) Harvey Jr., died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004. Born in Union County,
she was the youngest child of the late Curtis Franklin Gregory and Letha
Kingsmore Gregory. She graduated from Union High School in 1947 and she
and Buddy were married in 1949 and moved to Aiken in 1952. A 46-year
active member of Millbrook Baptist Church, she was widowed in 1981 and
moved to West Columbia in 1998.
Survivors include her eldest son, H. Gregory Harvey and his wife, Betty
of Sumter; a daughter, Ruth Anne Lawson and her husband, Dr. Richard M.
Lawson of Columbia and son, Glenn T. Harvey and his wife, Mary of James
Island; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille
Godshall of Aiken; and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family
suggests memorials to Mount Tabor Lutheran Church, Capital Improvement
Fund, 1000 B. Ave., West Columbia, S.C. 29169, or to the American Cancer
Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, S.C. 29210. The S.R. Holcombe
