Lillian Middlebrooks Gregory, 91, formerly of 624 Meansville Road, Union, died Wednesday,
June 1, 2005 at Wallace Thomson Hospital. Mrs. Gregory was the widow of Furman M. “Buck” Gregory.
Mrs. Gregory was born in Union Jan. 19, 1914, the daughter of the late James David Middlebrooks
and Elizabeth Howell Middlebrooks. She was the last surviving charter member of McCutchen
Memorial Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher as long as her
health permitted. Mrs. Gregory was a member of the Eastern Star and a member of Bonham Home
Demonstration Club. She retired from Milliken & Co., Monarch Plant.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandra G. Alexander and husband Ken of Laurens and Elizabeth
G. Wilson and husband Barry of Chester; a son, Maurice Gregory Jr. and wife Toni of
Gainesville, Ga.; six grandchildren, Greg Alexander, Jon Alexander, Amy Bishop,
John Barry Wilson Jr., F. Maurice Gregory III and Alan C. Gregory; and seven
greatgrandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 3, 2005 at the McCutchen Memorial Presbyterian
Church at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Reuben Wallace. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Greg Alexander, Jon Alexander, Chad Bishop, John Barry Wilson,
F. Maurice Gregory III and Alan C. Gregory.
Members of the Ladies Bible Class of McCutchen Presbyterian Church are asked to sit in
a group.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8 at Holcombe Funeral Home.
