James Robert Cooper

James Robert Cooper, of Lugoff, SC, died on January 13, 2002. He had been ill with
cancer for 9 months.

Born Dec. 25, 1927, in West Columbia, SC, James Robert Cooper was the son of the
late James Lloyd and Mamie Gregory Cooper. Mamie Gregory was the daughter of
Oscar Thomas and Clara Campbell Gregory. Oscar Thomas was the son of William M.
and Mary Hill Gregory of Chester, SC.

Having lived in Pontiac, MI, from 1952 to 1971, and in Santee, SC, from 1971 to
1982, he had been a resident of Lugoff, SC, since 1982. Mr. Cooper had served in
the Merchant Marine during World War II, and had 20 years service with the Grand
Trunk Western Railroad. He was a former President and Griever of the local
Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen in Pontiac, MI.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Eddith Emery Cooper of Lugoff; daughters and
sons-in-law, Jean L. Cooper of Charlottesville, VA, Patricia and Richard Visser of
Columbia, SC, and Jennifer and Dennis Keels, of Gaston, SC; and sons and daughters-in-law,
James R. Cooper, Jr., Eric L. and Robin Cooper, and William E. and Marianne Cooper,
all of Lugoff; sisters Barbara Jacobs, Cathy Bolton, and Judy Levine, all of Columbia;
six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
