Thomas Hopkins Peake, Jr.
(28 June 1926-6 June 2001)

THOMAS 'HOP' PEAKE, JR.

Friends, we are sad to let you know that Hop did not survive the complications
following the carotid artery surgery on Wednesday, May 30, 2001. He died in
the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 6.
He had been in a coma since the past Friday.

We are happy that he is not suffering anymore and are sure he is in 7th Heaven
looking up all those relatives and dates he had not been able to find.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 9, 2001 at the
First Presbyterian Church in High Point.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Piano Fund at the
church located at 918 North Main St., 27262.

He will be sorely missed-keep us in your prayers.

Margaret, Evans and Greg

THOMAS 'HOP' PEAKE, JR.

To those of you who knew Hop PEAKE and to those of you who didn't:

It is with much sadness that I pass along the terrible news that
Thomas Hopkins (Hop) PEAKE, Jr.,
passed away on Wednesday, 6 June 2001, after having been in a coma
since Friday, 1 June 2001, following carotid artery surgery on
Wednesday, 30 May 2001.

A native of Union, SC, Hop PEAKE (born 28 June 1926) was THE expert
on MANY family lines of Union, Spartanburg, York, and other counties
in SC. He had the gift of remembering names and genealogical facts
that would have confounded the fastest computer. He was enthusiastic,
energetic, generous, persistent, determined.
A Clemson graduate and a retired chemist, he was a thorough, precise
researcher, devoting his life to tracking down and documenting ancestors,
as well as classmates for school reunions.
It is amazing that he had time to do all this, since he was so involved
with his beloved family and with church and civic and community activities.
Yet, he always had time for a good story or joke - and loved to laugh and
enjoy life.

As an out-of-state member of Pinckney District Chapter of the South Carolina
Genealogical Society, Hop enjoyed keeping up with what was going on
genealogically, and otherwise, in his birthplace area and was constantly
contributing information to those of us who knew him.

We have suffered a tremendous loss, but the world is a better place for
having been blessed with Hop PEAKE's presence during his lifetime.

Our sympathies go out to his wife Margaret and their sons, Evans and Greg,
and to his brother, Erwin, and to the entire family.

With much sadness,

Linda STEVENS CRISSINGER
Corresponding Secretary, Pinckney District Chapter, SC Genealogical Society
