Hattie Isadora Gregory (23 August 1897 -22 March 1954) was the last child of Simpy and Mollie born in Lafayette County, Mississippi. She married John Charles Donaldson (14 January 1893-19 October 1966) in Eastland County, Texas on 5 September 1923. He was the son of George Ivins and Sarah Candice (Monk) Maddox. John Charles and Hattie Isadora are buried in Simpson Cemetery. Their five children: Phyllis Jean; Wanda Fern; John Charles Jr.; Glenn Sterling; and Danny Ray.

Phyllis Jean Donaldson (15 July 1924), first child of Hattie Isadora and John Charles, has been married three times but has no children. Her first husband: William Deewight Bryant (29 June 1920-21 May 1946); second, Herman D. Sessum (17 February 1920-22 December 1961); and, currently, Vernon Wright.

Wanda Fern Donaldson (3 November 1926), the second child of Hattie Isadora and John Charles, is Secretary-Bookkeeper to a school superintendent. She married Truman Reese Bryant (2 December 1924). Their children, all born in Gorman, Texas: Angela Fern; Truman Douglas; and Mollie Candace.

Angela Fern Bryant (15 September 1947) married Dwaine Neil Clower. Their children: Keith Douglas, 2 December 1968; and Wendy Annette, 7 March 1972.

Truman Douglas Bryant (16 April 1953) married Sherry Lavene Stubblefield. Their children: Heather Michelle, 2 October 1975; and Heath Daniel, 8 May 1979.

Mollie Candace (Candi) Bryant (20 February 1960) married Bobby Frank Taylor. They have a son: Caleb Frank.

John Charles (Jake) Donaldson, Jr. (13 April 1929), the third child of Hattie Isadora and John Charles, was born in Ranger, Texas. He married Naomi Imogene (Jean) Hibbert (10 July 1932-14 Deptember 1995), third and youngest born to Charles and Roxie Americus Carlisle Hibbert, on 25 October 1948. After a two year stint in the Army and several years moving from one West Texas town to another, they settled in Andrews, Texas, in 1956. Jake worked thirty-one years for Phillips Petroleum and fifteen for Pride Pipeline, from which he retired in 1996. Both were active in numerous civic froups, and Jake served some time as an Andrews city councilman. In 1997 Jake moved to Eastland, TX. Naomi is buried in ANdrew, TX. They had one son: John Charles III.

John Charles (Chuck) Donaldson III (25 October 1952), the only child of of Naomi and Jake Donaldson, was born in Cisco, Texas. He received a B.A. in English from Texas Tech University in 1975. In 1984 he cent to work for Southern Methodist University, where he has been degree and advisor for the Meadows School of hte Arts since 1997. He has been active in a number of peace and justice organizations.

Glenn Sterling Donaldson (27 October 1930), the fourth child of Hattie Isadora and John Charles, married Robbie Joyce Echols (7 September 1932). Their children: Michael Glenn; Larry Ray; and Debra Elaine.

Michael Glenn Donaldson (28 September 1951) married Patti Lynn Waugh. They divorced in 1983. The couple had a son: Michael Shane.

Michael Shane Donaldson (17 July 1975), the son of Michael Glenn and Patti Waugh Donaldson married Tracy Lee West on 23 april 1993. The couple has two children: Waylon Blaze (31 December 1992); Brooks Glenn (23 October 1997).

Larry Ray Donaldson (20 October 1954) married Nancy Nell Lewis on 6 July 1984. Their children: Elizabeth (Betsy) (6 November 1980); Cory Scott.

Cory Scott Donaldson (4 June 1982), the son of Larry and Nancy Lewis Donaldson, married Elizabeth Rose Jordan on 16 March 2002. They have a son: Tristan Ray (8 January 2002).

Ellis Simpson (Simpy) Gregory (25 August 1901, DeLeon, Comanche County, Texas) was the eighth child of Simpy and Mollie, He married Nancy Glenn McKinley (19 February 1906) on 24 December 1925 in Ranger, Texas. She is the daughter of Reuben Lee Andrew and Ida Octavia Spiva McKinley and a native of Bogata, Red River County, Texas. Their two daughters: Ida Frances; and Emily Doreen.

Ida Frances Gregory (10 June 1927) married first: William Harvey Hazard. She had two sons by this marriage: Gary Don and Ellis Ray. She married, second: Vivan Eugene Hise on 14 February 1952, who adopted Gary and Ellis. Ida and Vivan had three children as well: Jimmy Dan; Terry Wayne; and Jana Sue.

Gary Don Hise (4 May 1945) married Linda Gayle Riley (24 September 1948). Their children: Michael Shane, 29 July 1966; and Michelle Lee, 9 November 1970.

Ellis Ray Hise (30 August 1948) married Myra Gayle Cockrell (1 March 1950). Their sons: Stephen Duane, 19 September 1969; and Justin Matthew, 8 July 1974.

Jimmy Dan Hise (27 December 1952) married Wanda Nell Bryant (22 July 1960). Their two children: Heather Paige, 1 February 1975; and Jimmy Ryan, 23 August 1978.

Terry Wayne Hise (25 September 1954) married Beverley Nappier (11 May 1957). Their daughter: Tara Lynne, 5 September 1980.

Jana Sue Hise (15 October 1968) married twice. First: a Parsons; and currently, Randy Keith McCoy (11 November 1959). She has two sons by her first marriage: Michael Chad, 9 October 1975; and Dustin Jacob, 14 May 1979.

Hermon Eston Gregory (21 June 1905 -28 December 1981), youngest child of Simpy and Mollie, was born in DeLeon, Comanche County, Texas. He married Olga Maye Smith on 23 May 1926, the daughter of Martin Smith and Lillian Toone. Hermon Gregory was married in Ranger, Texas. Four of their children were born in Ranger. In 1937, he moved his family to Odessa, Texas. Hermon was a butcher at that time. Their youngest son, Wendell was born in Odessa. In 1943, Hermon was ordained to preach in Immanuel Baptist Church in Odessa. Most of his ministry was spent at East Side Baptist Church in Odessa. All of his children grew up and married there. He resided in Texas until his death. The children of Hermon and Olga are: Dortha Lanelle; Mary Ann; Norman Dean; Tommy Richard; Wendell (Lee).

Dortha Lanelle Gregory, (31 December 1928), was born in Ranger, Texas. She married Charles Hugo Thomas on June 21, 1947 in Odessa, Texas, the son of Charles Thomas and Ada Huckaby. Nell met her husband at the church where her father was pastor. They were married in that church (EastSide Baptist Church- Odessa, Texas). Nell and Charles moved away shortly after. They raised their family in Oklahoma City, OK. Dortha Lanelle Gregory Thomas passed away on 14 April 2002 in Oklahoma City. Charles Hugo Thomas passed away on 23 November 2006 in Oklahoma City. The children of Dortha Gregory and Charles Thomas are: Cynthia Ann; Sherry Lanelle.

Cynthia Ann Thomas (May 23, 1948), was born in Odessa, Texas (Ector County). She married Larry Duane Koonce on June 17, 1966 in Oklahoma City, OK, the son of Matthew and Mavis Martin Koonce. The children of Cynthia and Larry are: Kori Lynn; Larry Deke; Kari Ann.

Mary Ann Gregory (28 September 1932-15 May 2009), was born in Ranger, Texas. She married Jack Harvey on 1 March 01, 1952 in Odessa, Texas, the son of Waymon Harvey and Gladys Brinlee. Mary Ann Gregory met her husband, Jack Harvey when his father held a revival at the church where her father was pastor. Ann and Jack raised their children in Odessa, Texas. Steven Ross Harvey (1 August 1975) was born in Odessa, Texas (Ector County). They raised their family in and around Odessa. Dean is buried beside his parents at Sunset Cemetery in Odessa, Texas. Susannah (Susan) Gregory (1820, Union County, S.C.) was the second child of C. Gerard and his first wife, Margaret. Susannah's mother died when she was only ten years old. As the family traveled west to Alabama, Susannah helped her stepmother, Polly, with the younger children. In Alabama, she met and married Kennedy Cork, also of South Carolina. They lived in Romulus, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. The children listed in the home on the 1860 and 1870 censuses were: William, 1841; James, 1843; Simpson S.C., 1844; Thomas T.L., 1844; and Mary A., 1860.

Later, Kennedy and Susannah went to Mississippi and are found there in 1880. They returned to Alabama and are buried there in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Jena, Green County. Elizabeth Jane (1848-1855) is buried beside them.

Robert Jordan (Bob) Gregory (12 July 1830 -2 January 1892), the sixth child of C. Gerard and Margaret, was born in Union County, S.C. The Southerners pronounced his name "Jerdan," but he was known mostly as "Bob." Leaving friends behind at the age of eight was not easy for Bob, as the family moved west. Bob was still farming with his father when he was 21. He married Martha Adeline (Mattie) Helms (4 July 1833-9 February 1906) in 1852 in Pleasant Grove, Pickens County, Alabama. The family moved to Mississippi long enough for their son, Esquire, to be born there. Two of their children, Josephine and Lummy, who died in infancy, are not identified in order of birth because this information is not known. Their remaining children: Mary Margaret; Harriet E.; Rebecca Minerva; and Esquire Hamilton.

In April 1862, Bob enlisted in Company F, 41st Regiment, Alabama Infantry, CSA. He acted as Courier for the Confederate Army and would return home, bringing letters and money to the soldiers' families. He was captured and held prisoner of war by the Union Army. He appears on a Roll of Prisoners of War at Point Lookout, Maryland. He was captured 25 March 1865 and arrived at Point Lookout, 28 March 1865. His place of residence was listed as Pickens County, Alabama. He was described as light complected, sandy-haired, blue-eyed, and 6'1/2 " tall. His mark appears on the register as having taken the Oath of Allegiance to the United States on 12 June 1865. He was released from Point Lookout on the date of his oath.

Bob moved his family to Mount Pleasant, Titus County, Texas, where he and Martha are buried in the Greenhill Cemetery, north of Mount Pleasant. Martha had gone to visit relatives in DeLeon and died at the home of her nephew, David Allen W. Gregory. She was returned home in a wagon by her son, Squire, to be buried beside her husband.

Mary Margaret Gregory (ca. 1853, Pickens County, Ala.), eldest child, died young and is probably buried in Mississippi.

Harriet E. (Hattie) Gregory (24 October 1856 -8 July 1937) married John Wray. They had three sons: Pink; Willie; and Ollie. Pink and Willie are buried in Titus County, Texas; and Ollie is buried in Gregg County.

Hattie and her brother, Squire, died the same day. The late Edgar Gregory of Dallas, Texas, once related the following: Hattie's son, Pink, and brother, Squire, lived at Mount Pleasant. She lived at Linden, some thirty miles away. She traveled to Mount Pleasant with her son, Willie, in order to visit Squire, who was ill. Hattie died the following morning; Squire died that afternoon.

Rebecca Minerva Gregory (27 May 1858-17 February 1928) was born in Pickens County, Alabama. She married, first: Frank Bivens. They had two children: John; and Claudia. Her second marriage was to -?- Baxley. Their children: Lester; Joe; and Thelma.

Claudia Bivens married -?- Allen, it is said.

Esquire Hamilton (Squire) Gregory (7 October 1860-8 July 1937), youngest son of Robert J. and Martha Adeline, was born in Oxford, Lafayette County, Mississippi. He died in Mount Pleasant, Texas. He married Mary Elizabeth Hayes Reed, a widow, ca. 1889. She had two children by her first marriage: Edna and James Buckhanon Reed. Squire and Mary had six children: Robert Jordan; Annie Adeline; Mary Florence; Edgar Hamilton; Lilly Mae; and Hattie Elizabeth.

Robert Jordan (Bob) Gregory (8 September 1890 - 3 January 1959), eldest child of Squire and Mary Elizabeth, was a school teacher. The name of his wife is unknown. They had two children: Quindell; and Winapearl.

Annie Adeline Gregory (16 August 1892), second child of Squire and Mary Elizabeth, lived in Mount Pleasant. She married -?- Riddle and had five children: Opal; James; Louicarr; Alva L.; and Albert Hamilton.

Edgar Hamilton Gregory (13 December 1896-?), fourth child of Squire and Mary, married Vera Mae Barton. He lived in Dallas, Texas from 1921 until his death (date unknown). He was an owner of the Faye, Gregory and Linsteader Accounting and Auditing firm of Dallas and operated a stock farm at Naples for many years. He is buried in Greenhill Cemetery, Mount Pleasant. He and Vera Mae had three children: a son, 19 October 1914, lived only six weeks (he rests in Greenhill Cemetery); Lila Fay; and Richard Barton.

Lila Fay Gregory (13 August 1917) married, first: M.H. Harding; and, second: -?- Dafft in 1954. Her children by her first marriage: Maurice; and Ronnie.

Richard Barton (Dick) Gregory is a professional banjo player. He married Shirley Ann Strickland of Naples, Texas. Their children: Julia Ann; Laura Lynn; and Richard Barton (Bart).

Lilly Mae Gregory (1 August 1901), fifth child of Squire and Mary Elizabeth, is said to have married -?- Tennill.

Hattie Elizabeth Gregory (4 April 1903), youngest child of Squire and Mary, married -?- Bounds. They lived in Fayetteville, Washington County, Arkansas. Their children: Mary Ann; and Bobby.

Mary Ann Bounds (19 May 1927) married -?- Keaton.

Daniel Eligas (Elias) Gregory (2 February 1832, Union County, S.C.-14 April 1895, Ala.), the seventh child of C. Gerard and the first by Polly Gregory, grew up in Pickens County, Alabama, working away from home most of the time. He assisted the Overseer of a large farm in Bridgeville and enlisted in the Confederate Army early in the War Between the States.

He remained single until 1867, when he married Nancy J. Leavell of Romulus, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. She was the daughter of Robert and Margaret Leavell. Daniel was fourteen years older than Nancy. Little is known of their children: Sophy; Robert; William E.; Mary; and Taylor.

The family settled near Daniel's sister, Susannah Gregory Cork, and family at Hickman's, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. They later moved to Romulus, near his half-brother, Clifton John (Jehu) Gregory. Daniel and Nancy are buried in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Romulus.

Robert Gregory was born in 1871.

William E. Gregory (5 August 1874-17 September 1954) married -?- Patrick. Their issue: Newell; Glenn; Elma; Allen; Van; James Aubrey; Richard; Cecil; and Spencer.

Gasmond H. (Hamp) Gregory (1833-17 January 1863), the second child of C. Gerard and Polly, remained unmarried and was still farming with his father and younger half-brothers, Jason and Simpson, in 1860.

Hamp, along with older brothers, Robert J. and David C., enlisted early in the Confederate Army. He was a Private with Company F, 41st Regiment, Alabama Infantry Volunteers. His confederate Register Company Muster Roll (dated January and February 1863) states: "Remarks: Died 17 January 1863. He is the third son of C. Gerard Gregory to die in the Civil War."

Hamp is mentioned many times in David C. Gregory's letters to his wife, Martha Ann. Robert J. sent a letter to David C. upon Hamp's death, saying, "Hamp had four dollars and a half, and I sold his clothes which made the balance." Robert J. was sending the money home to their father, C. Gerard.
